Are you ready to take your commitment to ending cancer to the next level? At Cancer Eradicators, we’ve always believed that cancer picked the WRONG TEAM. We’ve seen the power of our community on the pavement, in the driver’s seats of our themed Jeeps, and through every dollar raised for the MD Anderson BootWalk.
But as our mission grows, so does our need for dedicated leadership. We aren't just walking; we are building a movement. To keep our momentum going, we are officially opening applications for our Board of Directors. If you’ve been looking for a way to use your professional skills to support cancer research and help end cancer once and for all, this is your sign!
Why We Do What We Do: The MD Anderson Mission
Our heart and soul are tied to the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center. As one of the world’s most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education, and prevention, MD Anderson is the front line in this battle.
The annual Boot Walk to End Cancer is more than just a 1.2-mile stroll through the Texas Medical Center (or your own neighborhood!). It is a statement. Since its inception in 2016, participants have raised over $16 million. Here is the best part: 100% of the funds raised by participants go directly to MD Anderson's mission. Because of generous event sponsors, every single cent you help us raise goes straight into the hands of researchers, doctors, and patient support programs.
When we say WE WALK. WE FIGHT. WE WIN., we aren’t just using a catchy slogan. We are describing a roadmap to a world without cancer. But to reach that destination, we need a strong steering committee. That’s where you come in.
The Call for Leaders: Open Board Positions
We are looking for passionate, driven individuals to join our leadership team. We need people who aren't afraid to get their boots a little dirty and their hearts a lot involved. Here are the specific roles we are looking to fill:
1. Treasurer: The Financial Backbone
If you have a background in banking, finance, or accounting, we need your expertise! The Treasurer is responsible for the financial health of the Cancer Eradicators. You’ll oversee our fundraising accounts, ensure transparent reporting of our donations, and help us budget for the signage, events, and materials that make our team stand out.
- Ideal for: CPAs, bank officers, or finance professionals who want to ensure every dollar is maximized for the fight.
2. Secretary: The Organizational Anchor
Every great team needs someone who keeps the "train on the tracks." Our Secretary will manage meeting minutes, maintain our official records, and help coordinate communication within the board. This role is perfect for someone who loves organization and wants a birds-eye view of how our nonprofit operates.

3. Healthcare Director: The Medical Guide
To truly support cancer research, we need someone who speaks the language of medicine. Our Healthcare Director will serve as our liaison to the medical community and help us understand the latest breakthroughs at MD Anderson. You’ll help us tailor our messaging so we’re sharing the most impactful information with our donors.

4. Community Relations Director: The Voice of the Team
Cancer Eradicators is nothing without our community. This role is all about building bridges. You’ll be responsible for outreach, finding new team members, and partnering with local businesses. If you love meeting new people and sharing our story, this is the role for you!

5. Fundraising Director: The Impact Driver
This is where the magic happens. We need a leader with a background in nonprofits and fundraising to help us scale our efforts. You’ll help design our cancer fundraising strategies, from corporate sponsorships to peer-to-peer campaigns. Your goal is simple: help us raise as much as possible for MD Anderson.

You’ll see us at the BootWalk in our signature leather boots with vibrant purple laces. You’ll see our themed Jeep Wranglers: bold in Navy Blue and Deep Purple: leading the way with signage that reminds everyone why we’re there. We believe that fighting cancer should be active, visible, and empowering.
